Sheila Terry, (another lovely starlet who has been forgotten), studied drama in her teens while pursuing her dream of becoming an actress. She began her career acting in theater; where she was discovered by a talent scout and soon signed to Warner Brother Pictures. She made her official film debut in 1932.
Sheila was a willowy, delicate blue eyed blonde who always wore the latest fashion, was seen with the right people in the trendiest places. She had no problem marrying millionaires, but quickly found out how detrimental they could be to her well being. (This would prove to be tragically ironic later in her life.)
Although Sheila tended to play bit parts in major films in the 1930's, she did play the lead role in many B movies. She is probably best known for westerns. She was a stand out as John Wayne's leading lady in Haunted Gold and 'Neath the Arizona Sky. However, by 1938 her movie career was beginning to wane. After 43 movies in six years, Sheila quit and moved to New York to start a new career as a press agent. After a number of years, this career evaporated and she was left with major financial problems. Sadly, she committed suicide on January 19, 1957 at the age of 46. No one claimed her body so she was buried in a paupers grave.
There is so much more to this lady's life than what I have provided, but most importantly, at one time Sheila Terry illuminated the movie screen with her beautiful, big, wide set eyes and bright smile.
