Greta Garbo arrived in Hollywood from Sweden in 1925 and quickly became one of the movie industry's most renowned stars. Her supernova rose so quickly she soon became known as only "Garbo". That name alone conjured up mystique, coupled by a beautiful, expressive face. A
face that was made for silent films. Throughout the 1920's, Garbo excelled in the silents; easily transitioning to "talking pictures'. During her career she was nominated three times for a Best Actress/Academy Award. Despite her success in 28 films, Garbo left Hollywood at 36 years old and never looked back. Always uncomfortable with her fame and achievements, she wanted to live a different life; a private life. And so she did,
in New York City, where she was frequently seen walking incognito. She lived alone until her death at age 84. Garbo, indisputably, the face of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
