Louise Brooks was an icon of silent films; the flapper who single handedly popularized the bob hairstyle. "Brooksie" was by far one of the most captivating and controversial stars to come out of the 1920's. Discovered at age 16, dancing in the famed Ziegfeld Follies, she was signed to a 5 year contract with Paramount Pictures. As an actress with Paramount, she achieved mediocre success; but it was a move to Europe that launched her to international stardom while starring in German films. All the while, Brooks was living a fast and furious lifestyle. By the age of 38, she retired from acting and had fallen upon some desperate times. However, she did manage to publish her eye opening, colorful memoir in 1982 called "Lulu in Hollywood". In 1985 she died from a heart attack at the age of 78. Louise Brooks - tiny in stature, but a huge impact on the Jazz Age of movies.
