The northern parula (Setophaga americana) is common during spring and summer across the southeastern United States and Canada. This tiny bird feeds mostly on insects and does not often visit feeders, staying mostly hidden amongst the trees and bushes. Nests are often so well hidden as to be almost invisible, buried among thick moss or lichen, and a couple may return to the same nesting site for many years.
