The northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) can be found year-round across the Eastern United States and Mexico. Diet consists of a variety of seeds, berries, and insects, with sunflower seeds being an especial favorite. Unlike many birds, both male and female cardinals can be found singing their enthusiastic songs, and the pair may even join together in a duet.
