The tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) can be found year-round across the southeastern United States, with the population's borders expanding steadily northward. These helpful birds feed on a wide variety of pesky insects and spiders during the summer, supplementing their diet with seeds and berries during the winter months. After hatching, some young titmice may stay with their parents for more than a year to help tend the nest.
