Part of my Mytholotea series. Persephone is the daughter of the Greek goddess Demeter. She was stolen away by Hades, god of the underworld, which made Demeter distraught. Although she was goddess of the harvest, Demeter's depression made her neglect her duties and plunged the world into drought and starvation. Zeus ordered that Hades return Persephone so that the human race would not die out, but alas! Persephone had eaten a kernel of a pomegranate and thusly had to remain as Hades's queen (fore once you partake of the food of the underworld, you are bound to it). However, Zeus and Hades made an agreement: half of the year Persephone would be able to visit her mother, while the other half she would remain with Hades. Thusly the seasons emerged - Spring and Summer while Persephone is with Demeter and Fall and Winter when she is with Hades. Suggested brewing instructions: 190° for 2-3 mins.
