I'm not a fan of Adagio's Vanilla Oolong. To me, the toasty taste of the oolong comes through more than the vanilla flavor and the two aspects (toasty versus somewhat floral) don't seem to mesh. I like this combo of teas better so would use it in home blends in place of Vanilla Oolong. Additionally, this tea creation contains a moderate caffeine level and steeps at the more typical oolong temperature of 195 (or at least that's the setting I use given my kettle's preset options).
The unoxidized green tea and the black tea's enhanced oxidation combine to yield an imitation of an oolong's partial oxidation. However, this blend lacks the nice buttery mouth feel that is so enjoyable in oolongs. Of course, Vanilla Oolong also lacks that quality IMO.
