Photo shows a Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) in its fall glory. I've added a sapling to my garden with the intent of keeping it in a container and pruning annually so it will stay small (an idea from Raising Butterflies and Moths in the Garden by Brenda Dziedzic). Why? This species of tree serves as a larval host for Crecopia, Polyphemus, and Rosy Maple moths. I don't have room for another large tree, but this way I'll get to observe and photograph a greater number and diversity of creatures in my yard. This mostly black tea blend has a sweet taste from the combination of teas used-- no need for sugar or honey. Perfect for representing Sugar Maples of course. :) It's also great as a chai base... "recipe" for whole spices to add in notes below.
RECIPE 1-- I think this tastes like a wonderful Spice Cookie... 1g Nutty Maple Cream tea leaves, .53g cardamom seeds, .40g cloves, .27g ginger root, .13g cinnamon pieces. I steeped at 212/5. RECIPE 2-- A Sip of Autumn... Blend 1g of Nutty Maple Cream with 1g Spiced Apple Chai plus accents of cinnamon, marigold petals, and rose hips. Steeped at 212/4.
