Mary Todd Lincoln was the wife of 16th President Abraham Lincoln. Mary was a member of a wealthy Kentucky family, and was well educated. Prior to her marriage to Abraham Lincoln, she was in a relationship with his political opponent Stephen Douglas.
As First Lady, she supported her husband through the challenges of the Civil War, and was with him at Ford's Theatre when he was fatally shot.
