Remember that first time you ventured into the Nether? If you were lucky and not like me your portal would have spawned somewhere protected and out of Ghast fire. Mine was on the edge of a lava lake...one block separating me and flaming doom. Of course a Ghast comes to great me by blowing out the ground under me and my portal.
