“ Pleasantly surprised by this blend. I was expecting a strong earl grey flavor. The decaf teas were very nice,no bitterness. Delicious cup of tea hot and cold. There was a light earl gray flavor and the vanilla complimented the tea beautifully.Masterful blend Victoria. ”
“ I love Earl Grey, and I'm sipping this at 4 am so the fact that it's decaf is also awesome! I did pick out the rose petals before steeping...I don't like rose in tea. My best buddy and dog Roxie loves them though, so she got to eat the petals. And since this is decaf, I also let her try a splash of my tea in a dish. She agrees that it is amazing. :) 212F, 3 minutes. Nice Earl with a lovely addition of a mellowing vanilla taste. Mmmm! Full stars and barks from me and Rox! ”
“ “Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender...
And listen to the music of the night”
Much like Andrew Lloyd Webber’s lullaby, this tea is tranquil and smooth. It smells of sweet vanilla, orange and lavender while in the CommuniTea packet. It steeps (at a slightly lower temp to avoid bitterness) into a deep orange color. The bitter bergamot is quieted somehow, and goes to sleep so that the other ingredients can gently unfurl their splendour. Adding ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 10 oz) really allows the vanilla to tenderly take over, soothing the tongue and smoothing the other flavors. Lovely hot and equally delicious cool. I love Victoria’s musical theatre fandom, as I have some of her other blends. (2 steeps: 3 mins @ 200ºF + sweetener). ”
“ Looks like Earl’s back for some decaf action this time! All ingredients were present in my communiTEA packet. Very pleasant bergamot and floral aromas were noted.
I had 3.45 grams of ingredients, enough for a 13.8 ounce steep. I steep all my decaf black teas at 200°F, cuz’ that’s what I found to work best in the past. I pulled the steep at the three minute mark, when all the leaves had fallen to the bottom of my steeper and the color depth was to my liking.
When hot, no bitterness was noted from the tea. Mild vanilla, lavender and bergamot flavors were noted. I added a bit of sugar to bring out flavors and sweeten the deal.
When warm, moderate orange, bergamot and vanilla flavors were noted. Rose and lavender flavors were mild. The cornflowers gave it up by smoothing all the flavors together. A pleasantly clean zestiness was noted from the decaf Ceylon black.
This was a very nicely blended multilayered decaf sip that ended with a pleasant decaf black astringency. The rose and lavender finished things off by providing a wonderful caressing floral touch at the end. This was a great decaf version of a floral Earl Grey. (3 mins @ 200ºF, ¼ tsp sugar) ”
“ CommuniTEA Sample: One if the best Earl Grey blends that I’ve tried. The bergamot was there, but not overpowering at all. A friend tried it as well and she also said it was a great blend as well. Very smooth Ceylon, a bit of bergamot, and some great lavender. Highly recommended as a decaf tea. ”
