The blackberry isn't really a berry after all, it's an aggregate of drupelets as part of the Rubus species. They remain attached to a juicy white core which distinguishes them from raspberries which are hollow (betcha that's gonna be a clue on "Jeopardy!" in no time). The berries are indigenous to regions in Asia, Europe, and both North and South America. They're small, round with tiny nodules and sweet with healthful quantities of iron, Vitamin C, and a plethora of antioxidants. They're eaten fresh, juiced, or made into preserves or jams and who doesn't love a blackberry cobbler?
