Celebrating Seasonal Splendor

Autumn brings with it a cornucopia of flavors and aromas, marking a season where we can revel in the splendor of the entire harvest. Rather than spotlighting one specific ingredient or inclusion this Fall, we're embracing the richness of the season by exploring and celebrating the sensational array of fruits, herbs, and spices that make this time of year so special.

That's right, we're diving into the whole kit and caboodle, the big beluga, the never-ending platter of possibilities.

And to help us celebrate the harvest holidays this season, we have our friends Sour Apple and Always Nuts along for this helpful and informative ride of the season.

A Brief History of Harvest Festivals

But history first!

The harvest has many traditions around the world. Some may have already occurred earlier in the harvest season, but we're including them to share the concepts of different beautiful traditions, and know that there's no deadline for you to create a harvest celebration of your own!

Here are a few to inspire you: Lammas (heralds the first of the harvest), Mabon (a midpoint in the harvest season, dedicated to that special moment when the day and the night are perfectly equal), Samhain (traditionally celebrated at the end of October), Thanksgiving, and the Mid-Autumn Festival (perfect with a hot cup of tea as the fall chill starts to set in).

Harvest Tisanes to Enjoy

...And why not try one of these Adagio teas as your harvest hot cup?

Sour Apple

Sour Apple isn't like the puckering confection you might think of from leftover Halloween candy. This tea is actually quite sweet! The tanginess comes from the hibiscus and rosehips, which pack a flavor punch to ensure that you know you're not sipping on a mild-mannered appletini here!

This drink has so much character that you can enjoy it in a variety of ways depending on how you like to serve it. Its feisty undertones are great iced when false summer comes through on the East Coast, and you can easily make a heaping (and festively red) pitcher of cold brew in anticipation. And of course, it's delicious when brewed as a simple hot tea as well. Since, as we've mentioned, this is an herbal tisane—meaning none of the ingredients are derived from the Camellia sinensis tree, which can impart tannins and a dry-bitter flavor when over steeped—you can safely keep this one by your side all night and never fear its flavor turning too sour or astringent while you cozy up to your favorite holiday baking show.

And if you like it sour and sweet, be sure to pair it with our Raw Honey for Fruit Tisanes.

Always Nuts

Now what if you like it neither too sour nor too sweet, but just a little bit... nuts?

The Always Nuts blend—featuring not just nut flavor but apple pieces, cinnamon, cocoa nibs, rose hips, hibiscus, as well as natural nutty flavors—takes the idea of a baked harvest treat and manages to do the impossible: baking all that pastry delight right into a cup of tea! Please know that there are no actual nuts in this blend and is suitable for those with nut allergies!

This tea is just a sweet, easy keeper that only gets better and more complex the longer you steep it. If you're engrossed in the titillating action of reality TV confectionery and happen to forget that you had a cup going, then this tea will only develop in its depth with the added time you've given it to linger, as you'll really get to taste the nuances of more of the fruit and the nuttiness becomes a welcome partner to the affair.

It's also a great tea for friends and loved ones who might not be into the more grassy or vegetal flavors that the true tea plant has to offer.

And don’t forget to try this one with honey, too! We recommend trying our Vanilla Honey for the season.
