“ The proper amount of each listed ingredient was noted in my sample tin. Chocolate chips appeared to be in abundance! Chocolate and butterscotch aromas were noted.
I used three grams of tea, enough for a medium strength 12 ounce steep. I steeped at 190°F to stave off any black tea bitterness. I pulled the steep at four minutes, when the color depth was to my liking.
When hot, mild chocolate and cinnamon flavors were noted. Black tea bitterness was nonexistent. I added ¼ teaspoon of sugar to git the flavors a-bloomin’!
When warm, there was a very pleasant oolong smoothness and buttery mouthfeel. Butterscotch flavors were moderate and tasty. The apple pieces did their job as usual with chocolate and butterscotch flavor distribution. Moderate chocolate flavors were noted. A very mild dark unsweetened cocoa bitterness was noted from the nibs, but that just added some mystery to the sip! A very mild almond nuttiness was noted towards and at finish.
“Rook out,” all flavors will coat your mouth and stay there for a very long time! Thank goodness, the rose hips got overpowered by all this chocolate! I love the use of oolong in blends because it allows flavorings to shine and is not bitter like most black teas. Kudos to our communiTEA team! Chocolate overload at its finest! (¼ tsp sugar added)
