“ The Samurai Mate tea has received varied responses, with many appreciating its bold chai flavors, including cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and anise, balanced with a slightly bitter mate base. Most reviewers enjoyed the unique combination of spicy and slightly fruity notes, though some noted an inability to discern specific fruit flavors, attributing a mild sourness instead. A common highlight was the tea's energizing effect, albeit causing jitteriness in a few. Experimentation with blending yielded favorable comparisons to known chai blends. While opinions on the presence of fruit and mate's strength varied, the blend's spicy aroma and nuanced taste profile were widely praised. ”
“ 30 June 2020 review: Really nice and spicy chai aromas were noted in the bag. After steep a cloudy yellow color was seen in the cup. Slightly spicy aromas of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and anise were gearing up for the finish. As the brew cooled down to warm, all of the flavors and aromas of the above became strong with a slight nutty note from the almond. The mate made itself known with typically strong, earthy, and slightly bitter tastes. Light eucalyptus aromas were also noted. I really couldn’t pick out any fruit flavors though, but think they might have added a slightly sour flavor to the mix. I loved the use mate as the choice of tea. The inclusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and anise as the proper choice for a bold chai-type tea was really appreciated. This was a fun tea to review as there were pleasant flavors and aromas popping up around every corner. A bit of sugar smoothed the flavors together. Second steep was done with similar results. You definitely want to do a full 10 minute steep to give the mate a fair chance of not getting overpowered. (10 mins @ 212F, 1/4 tsp sugar) ”
“ Used as part of an experiment to recreate Teavana Chai/Chai Blend. 1:1:1 Samurai Mate//Masala Chai//Raja Oolong Chai creates a very close recreation with its own unique nuiances. Experiment success.
Has an overpowering fruit smell im not used to with Teavana Samurai Mate. will take a bit to get used to. ”
“ This tea is a nice mix of spice and fruity sweetness. It has a wonderful spicy fragrance! 7/1/2021 - Still love the spiciness and underlying sweetness of this tea! 1/17/2022 - This tea does taste great and I really loved it. But, I have found that my body just can't handle mate....I get jittery and even shake. I drink a lot of black tea and coffee daily, but mate, for whatever reason, is too much for me. Love it....but not drinking it anymore. Great tea -- but not for me. ”
“ Spicy aroma, tropical chai. Seems like an odd blend of ingredients to me, but it works! Nice balanced blend of spice and fruit. Smooth, easy drinker. Sweetened with honey. ”

Samurai were famous Japanese warriors that existed from the twelfth to late nineteenth century. Famous for their dedication to the bushido code, they were known for their double swords, their loyalty, their military prowess, and their honor. Typically, Samurai were sworn to serve a single master, becoming masterless samurai known as ronin if their masters died or cast them aside. Though samurai were officially abolished in 1870, their history and reputation still make them popular today, where they are featured in movies, TV, anime, video games, and more.

I'm confused. The Samurai Mate came to me in a bag that says it is an 'herbal tea' and on the back description says 'devoid of caffeine'. Is that correct? It seems everyone is saying it has caffeine.
