AI Bot Summary
based on most popular reviews
The Passionfruit Tango tea, often praised for its visually stunning deep red hue and vibrant array of ingredients, including hibiscus, cinnamon, and lemongrass, presents a dance of flavors ranging from tart to sweet. Reviewers found the cinnamon aroma notably moderate, and the taste of fruits less bright than expected, with many noting the hibiscus' dominance slightly overshadowing the promised passionfruit. Some added sugar to enhance fruitiness, and opinions varied with the tea's temperature, finding it more pleasing when warm. While mixed reactions emerged regarding the fruit and cinnamon blend, its application as both a hot and iced beverage was appreciated. Overall, the tea provided a unique tasting experience, with some desiring a stronger fruit presence against the spicy and tart backdrop.

All ingredients were present in my communiTEA packet. Hibiscus, cinnamon and lemongrass appeared to be the main players. 3.3 grams of ingredients were noted … enough for a 14 ounce steep. They was ready to tango! Moderate cinnamon aromas were noted.

I steeped at the short end of the time recommendation, five minutes, to hopefully avoid too much tartness from the hibiscus.

When hot, a deep red crimson colored liquid was noted in my mug. Mildly tart and sweet flavors at the same time were noted from the hibiscus. Fruit flavors were not present. Moderate cinnamon flavors were noted. I added a bit of sugar in hopes of bringing-out the fruit.

When warm, a moderate tartness was noted from the hibiscus. Lemony smooth lemongrass flavors were mild. Moderate cinnamon zings were noted. Mild indistinguishable fruit flavors were noted.

At the end, light floral rose flavors were noted. The tart hibiscus and cinnamon were too intense, not allowing the fruit flavors to shine. Too much tang(o) and not enough fruit! (5 mins @ 212ºF, ¼ tsp sugar)

Cinnamon chimes and fruit rhymes in this passionfruit tango medley. I enjoyed this tea when I used more water than usual to brew and then sweetened the cuppa to smooth and brighten the fruit flavors and gentle the cinnamon presence.

A strong cinnamon scent was released when I opened the CommuniTEA packet today. I decided to give this heady spice the full dance floor and room enough to spread its charms while letting the fruit flavors mingle where they may. I brewed at 200F water for 8 minutes using a generous 12 oz. mug. The beautiful merlot red liquor had a gentle scent of cinnamon. When tasted hot, the tart flavors from the hibiscus, raspberry leaves and rose hips were closely followed by a lemony taste from the lemongrass. It was only when the tea cooled more, the fruity presence of mango, apricot and passionfruit was collectively tasted as a tropical peachy like tang. The rose petals were a bit of a no show but may have contributed more than I knew. A cinnamon presence throughout gave a depth, warmth and fullness to this fruity tea and like all herbal teas there was no astringency or bitterness to note.

Sweetening this tea made it a very pleasant sip for me. I sipped plain at first but the tart tendency with an undertone of cinnamon was slow going. I needed that extra boost of sugar which brightened the flavors and made the cinnamon ring. A cup cooled on the side, sweetened, was very tasty too. A resteep of 6 oz. was less of a fruity sip and more cinnamon in nature but funny enough I could sip this cup plain. Surprised at first by the cinnamon and fruit combo in this tea, I became a believer at last. This was a very tasty and welcome discovery today. Blended with another tea this would be a good addition too.

UPDATED from: 3/30/21 Odd sweet aroma coming from the CommuniTea packet, and it could be passion fruit (which I have never eaten). The tea steeps into a stunningly bright and clear scarlet. Bold, sassy and fun, the ingredients are dancing a tangy tango and what a delight! Adding ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 10 oz) allows the sweeter side to hold its own with its tangy partner as they glide side by side into my mouth. No one flavor overpowers the other. A smooth, fresh routine, with the sour zing lingering on my tongue into the finish. Hot, this holds its own with sweets, however this is awesome cold. Alas, one steep only, but it is totally caffeine free! A must have for the summer, it comes in teabags which makes cold steeping very easy! ( 10 min @ 212ºF + sweetener).

Ingredients & Lore

blended with hibiscus, cinnamon, apple pieces, lemon grass, rose hips, raspberry leaves, natural passionfruit flavor, mango pieces, rose petals & peach pieces

Passion fruits are soft, fleshy fruits that come from the passion flower. Available in both purple and yellow varieties, they are round in shape with a soft, leathery skin. Inside the fruit, seeds float in juicy pockets which can be enjoyed raw, juiced, or within desserts like ice creams, cheesecakes, mochi, and more. The name passion fruit comes from the Passion of the Christ, as missionaries would often use the flowers' unique features to explain their faith. We've taken things in a slightly different direction, leaning into the passion of the tango instead.

The brewing directions above say to put it in the fridge overnight. What water temp and steeping time would I use if I want to make it hot? Thank you!
