While the greatest chocolates may come from Europe, the best chocolate tea undoubtedly comes from Adagio. Our Chocolate Black tea starts with the bright, full qualities of Ceylon black tea, infused with the flavor of rich dark chocolate. Very smooth, clean and liquid texture, much like a chocolate liquor, rather than cocoa powder. Decadent and divine.
Our natural chocolate flavor is vegan-friendly and doesn't contain any dairy ingredients.

“ Chocolate tea enthusiasts often find delight in its unique blend of flavors, with many appreciating the cocoa nibs and pleasantly chocolatey aroma. Common preparation involves steeping at lower temperatures, around 190°F to 200°F, for approximately three minutes to balance out the bitterness from the Ceylon Black tea base and enhance the chocolate notes. The addition of a small amount of sugar or honey can further bring out a sweetened dark chocolate flavor, making it a healthier alternative to indulgent chocolate desserts. While some find the chocolate flavor could be more pronounced, adding cream or blending with other teas, such as mint or Assam, can elevate the experience. Chocolate tea serves both as a delightful standalone beverage and a versatile ingredient for creating chocolate-themed tea blends, ideal for those seeking the cozy comfort of chocolate without the calories. ”
“ A good dark chocolate dessert tea. It has a good chocolate flavor. If brewed properly, it's smooth. I like to add some honey and creamer for a nice treat. ”
“ I am a novice tea drinker who loves artificial chocolate flavor (think Ritas chocolate ice and chocolate tootsie pops) so I immediately tried all the chocolate flavors here first. I don't know if this is some big sin within the tea community, but I am a college student so I typically make a big batch and refrigerate overnight to get an amazing refreshing chill! The high caffeine content is perfect to bring to class when I have to get up for the four 8:30 am classes I had last semester. ”
If I was a chocolate tea person, I'd like this tea! Really tastes like chocolate and doesn't need much sweetener though I recommend a little to make the flavor 'happen'. Ultimately I either want chocolate or tea. ”
“ I thought this was a good tea, well as good as chocolate tea can be. I don't care much for dark chocolate, and I think milk compliments chocolate best. So, I was pretty sure I was going to hate chocolate tea, but I didn't. It smells great and there were some cocoa nibs in my communiTEA sample. As always, I am glad I tried it, but I won't be seeking out this tea again. ”
Our teabags contain the same high-quality tea as our loose-tea offerings. Their pyramid shape gives the leaves plenty of room to unfurl and infuse, placing more flavor in each cup. Enjoy the superior flavor of gourmet tea with the convenience of a disposable bag.

Ingredients & Lore
blended with black tea, cocoa nibs & natural chocolate flavor
The cacao tree, cultivated in Mexico and Central America, owes a debt to the Mayans who first developed cacao liquor/paste by removing the beans from their pods, fermenting then drying them before grinding the beans into a powder they mixed with water and chile. This thick, bitter, foamy drink was the original 'hot' chocolate. The Toltecs' Mesoamerican god, Quetzlcoatl aka the 'garden god,' represented health, love, sex, agriculture, and food. (All the best things in life!) He is often shown as a feathered serpent, who had come to earth from an afternoon star as a gift, like the bean itself.

I have an allergy to chocolate (boohoo). I have always assumed there is actual chocolate in your chocolate teas. Am I correct?
