“ The reviews for the matcha hot chocolate blend range widely, with reactions varying from delight to disappointment. Some reviewers rave about its amazing taste when sweetened or mixed with milk alternatives like almond milk, emphasizing it as a decadent treat. Others, however, describe difficulty in achieving a pleasant balance, noting a bitter, dry-mouth feel or an unwelcome seaweed-like taste. Suggestions for improvement include adding sweeteners, experimenting with preparation methods like frothing or sifting, and adjusting the mix-to-liquid ratio. While some find it an intriguing and tasty combination of chocolate and matcha, a number of reviewers remain unimpressed, highlighting inconsistent flavors and preparation challenges. Overall, it appears to be a product that might require some personalized tweaking to fully enjoy. ”
“ I will start by saying that at first, I was very daunted by this by the smell alone (which wafted up out of the sample pouch I have.) I did two teaspoons into half of a mug of hot milk, whisked it vigorously and then tried some. It was bitter but I then knew it was legit Matcha tea with cocoa and not just named 'matcha hot chocolate.' So I added a little bit of some cocoa mix and sugar. Voila, it tasted AMAZING. Next time I'll just add the sugar since I love my matcha teas with cream and sugar.
TL;DR Don't let this tea/hot cocoa intimidate you! It's amazing once it's been sweetened up a little. ”
“ While I like both matcha and hot chocolate (and coincidentally matcha hot chocolates), this one is kind of a miss for me. I wanted to love it and experimented to try to hit a sweet spot, but couldn't find one. I varied the amounts of powder to milk and just couldn't find a point that was the strength I wanted without the dry-mouth bitterness cocoa powder is known to have. White sugar is okay, brown sugar is a bit better, but not my favorite. I'm tempted to add a fat and bake it into a cake, but alone with milk and sugar it's just OK. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I would probably reach for regular matcha or regular hot chocolate before this. ”
“ So delicious I made this with califia farms almond milk, it is decadent and so tasty!!! ”
“ UPDATED: I thought I’d give it another shot. This time I mixed 2 teaspoons, sifted, with half a cup of warm water and a teaspoon of sugar. To that I added 3/4 a cup of warm milk. I used a handheld milk frother to stir it all together. It incorporated much better this way, but my assessment of the taste still stands. It lacks the taste of matcha and taste more like a mediocre to poor hot chocolate. It wasn’t awful this way, it’s more palatable hence why I bumped it up a star, but it’s still not for me.

I love matcha and I love hot chocolate, so I thought this would be a hit. Sadly, it tasted like neither of the things I loved. It was a bit like an identity crisis and this drink couldn't commit to being either. It was grainy and didn't mix well with my almond milk, just clumping and sitting on the surface. If you try it, I suggest heating your liquid to just short of boiling and sifting it in. Personally, I'll stick to the matcha chocolate. ”
“ Did not like this. It tasted of seaweed and I was told this was amazing. Not a fan. Not for me. But no harm, no foul. :) ”
