masala chai
Our Masala Chai tea blend combines premium Ceylon black tea with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and ginger. In Indian culture, 'Masala' means 'a blend of spices', and 'chai' simply means 'tea.' So, Masala Chai is literally 'spiced tea'. Our interpretation tries to stay true to its definition thanks to a warm and inviting fragrance, zesty flavor, and invigorating, aromatic finish. We suggest two heaping teaspoons per 8 oz cup. Sugar or milk if desired.
Black Tea | High caffeine | Steep at 212° for 7-10 mins

This is a nice, spicy chai to savor. The intensity of the flavors is just right. I’m not a huge chai fan, but for those who love the style, this will be right up your alley. Happy Sipping!

UPDATE: Over the years, I've become more partial to a chai. I've become more of a black tea fan and always love lots of spices in my brew. This one is brimming with cinnamon, cardamom and ginger goodness. It's a basic, workhorse chai but it satisfies! Happy Sipping!

I love blending and cooking with this chai. It has a terrific base flavor. It's a bit too much for me by itself, but I still love it because of how blendable it is. Yes, I just made up a new word...:D

Probably my favorite chai. I used to like Raja Oolong best, but over time the fiery cinnamon flavoring wore thin for my taste buds. And Masala can be more readily varied I think. And yes, I typically steep for 5 minutes only.

Masala Chai is one of my favorite chai teas, This blend hosts a flavorful, spicy, aromatics party in your cup or mug. Today I added a splash of cream. This is an excellent chai.

Ingredients & Lore

blended with black tea, cardamom, cloves, ginger, natural cinnamon flavor & cinnamon

In the early 20th century, the Indian Tea Association was looking for ways to popularize tea consumption in India. As such, they encouraged factories and mills to offer tea breaks for their employees, often observing English preparation with milk and sugar added. When they found out vendors were adding higher proportions of spices, milk, and sugar to their chai to reduce the amount of tea they had to purchase however, well, they were a little upset. In this case, however, flavor won out, and chai has been a staple ever since, with countless variations in preparation, spices, and more.

On the bag and website it says to steep for 7 to 10 min@212°. Someone on Facebook said that they were told by customer service that it was a mistake and the Masala is to be steeped only for 5min. Is this true?
