Our Irish Breakfast combines hearty black teas from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and Assam (India) to get your morning off to a bright start. As its name implies, the Irish Breakfast black tea blend is an ideal accompaniment to a morning meal. It seamlessly blends the citrusy notes of a high-grown Ceylon with the malty underscore of a pungent Assam. Spicy and jammy aroma on the leaf, malty and deep flavor with a brisk and 'buzzy' mouthfeel. Rounded sweetness in the finish. May be enjoyed plain or with a drop of milk. Irish Breakfast is one of Adagio's most popular teas.

“ Irish Breakfast tea consistently delights connoisseurs with its robust flavor profile. A blend of Ceylon and Assam teas, it combines brightness with malty richness, offering a full-bodied experience. Reviewers rave about its smooth, malty taste, with notes of dark chocolate and a pleasant astringency that enhances its complexity. It's versatile, equally celebrated as a bold morning wake-up and a refreshing iced drink. Its quality remains consistent over years, making it a staple in many tea stashes. Whether enjoyed straight, with a dash of sweetener, or cream, Irish Breakfast tea earns high marks for delivering a satisfying cup each time. ”
“ When you just want a cup of plain black tea this is a great one to have. It is smooth and flavorful and is good with or without milk and sweetener. It’s just a great way to start the day. 😊 ”
“ Finally got around to trying this one and it tastes wonderful. I think after having this and golden spring back to back I have realized I like malty as a flavor.this one is a great, bold, simple tea. I do detect a subtle sweetness in there, but just a hint. It has a welcome astringency which left a bit of a dry finish and would go wonderfully with a morning meal. I with it's well rounded flavor it could easily be a go to tea when you are not sure exactly what you want. Great tea ”
“ Very good! Much more tart than your every day IB from the grocery store, but I wouldn't have it any other way! A great way to wake up with some goats milk added. ”
Our teabags contain the same high-quality tea as our loose-tea offerings. Their pyramid shape gives the leaves plenty of room to unfurl and infuse, placing more flavor in each cup. Enjoy the superior flavor of gourmet tea with the convenience of a disposable bag.

Top of the morning is a salutation which offers the "best of the morning". There's a bit of mystery as to where the term comes from though, which could be referring to the "top" as the best, as the beginning of the morning, or, our personal favorite, as a nod to cream, which rises as the "best" to the top of fresh milk. While the phrase isn't commonly used by Ireland natives today (as the second highest per-capita tea drinkers in the world) their favorite blend clearly is.

I found a pouch of my tea that I didn't know I had. It's never been opened and have had it for a few years now. Is it still going to be fresh and still taste ok? Thanks
