based on most popular reviews
Based on the diverse reviews, Earl Grey Lavender tea elicits mixed feelings among tea enthusiasts. While some revel in the unique blend of bergamot and lavender, appreciating the floral yet not overpowering scent, others find it too floral and astringent for their taste. The addition of cream and sugar, as some suggest, can mitigate the bitterness and enhance the tea's smoothness. A common sentiment is a love for the tea's versatility, with it being used in London Fog lattes and tea cookies, highlighting its adaptability in various recipes. Despite divided opinions, the tea holds a special place in many hearts, with its blend of lavender, bergamot, and sometimes vanilla, creating a soothing and aromatic experience. For those averse to strong floral notes, this tea might be challenging, but for lavender and Earl Grey lovers, it's a delightful discovery.

I quite like this. I thought it might have too many flavors going on due to bergamot AND lavender, but to me, it's a good blend. And the funny thing is that I don't think it tastes strongly of either flavor, but it's interesting and pleasant. Of course, I definitely love lavender teas! :)

I am not the biggest fan of Earl Greys nor lavender in tea. So when this came up as a sample in the CommuniTEA, I had low expectations. Drinking this straight was not my cup of tea due to the floral notes which reminded me of soap. I will say, it was not bad blended with lots of oatmilk and honey into a London Fog drink.

I can't drink earl greys and then added lavender, I'm out for the count. A lovely scent for a candle, not something I can drink.

I'm always surprised by how relaxing this tea is when I brew it. Orange flavored bergamot and sense awakening lavender compliment each other very well. The soothing creme flavor in the tea helps to smooth and take the edge off these two distinct flavors for a more joyful sip. Since I really enjoy Earl Gray sweetened, an agave add further softens the lavender and bergamot flavors even more for a truly delicious and calming sip.

My 3 g CT packet had lots of black tea leaves, beige tipped blue lavender buds, a few nice sized orange peels and a scattering of blue cornflowers. Brewed the aromatic tea at 208*F for 4.5 min to make 10 oz. of a pleasantly scented brown colored EG tea. I sweetened and sipped then resteeped another 7 oz. which was my favorite cup of the two. The flavors were beautifully balanced and nice and mellow in my second cup. No bitterness was detected from the black tea base even with a longer steep time of more than 3 minutes for each cup. Since lavender has health benefits and partners well with Earl Gray, I hope to brew EG Lavender more often than I do.

I found both the bergamot and lavender to be overpowering in this blend.

Ingredients & Lore

blended with black tea, lavender, orange, blue cornflowers, natural vanilla flavor, natural bergamot flavor & natural creme flavor

Though its true origins are ultimately a mystery, Earl Grey tea is named after the second man to have the title, Lord Charles Grey. Lavender is a bush-like plant known for its color and scent, as well as for being a great attractor of pollinators such as bees and, especially, butterflies. Put the two together like we have in this lovely cup, and you've got the perfect image for an afternoon spent in a classic English garden. Cucumber and watercress sandwiches not included.
